Yoga for the Mind

Join Betsy Rippentrop, PhD, licensed psychologist and yoga teacher, for an exploration of how the combination of yoga and psychology are mutually supportive allies in the liberation of the human spirit. Much of modern day yoga focuses primarily on physical postures, but yoga is actually a practice primarily for the mind. And current scientific research has established what yogis have known for centuries: Yoga is great for the mind – it improves mood, decreases stress and insomnia, and reduces depression and anxiety. The intent of this intensive is to learn the roadmap toward a healthier and stable mind using yoga techniques and tools. This workshop includes some lecture, but will mainly be experiential as we practice pranayama (breath work), svadhyaya (self-study), meditation, pratyhara (withdrawal of the senses), mudra (hand positions) and asana (physical postures) leading to a clear mind, a relaxed body, and a lightness of being.
